The Last Waltz Celebration New Haven Concert reviews
MercyMe @ Viejas
The venue was very good overall, and the artistry and music were excellent.
As a professional sound and acoustical engineer, my second complaint is that for both Crowder and The Last Waltz Celebration, the bass guitar in the mix was too hot by 6-10 dB where we were sitting (behind, above, and about 50' house-right of FOH).
I did not move around the building enough or stand at FOH to know if we were sitting in a modal summation hot-spot. The building seemed to dissipate the massive amounts of LF modal energy reasonably quickly, which was nice acoustically.
I can only imagine how bad the sound/mix would have been with an unacceptably high T60 slope ratio between 63 Hz and 4 kHz.
First, a specific complaint is that the pitch to support needy children in impoverished countries took up way too much time.
